Anti-apartheid activist dies

South Africa is mourning the death of anti-apartheid struggle stalwart Ruth Mompati. She died peacefully on Monday night at her home town of Vryburg in North West province.
She was a former MP and women’s rights activist who worked with Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo back in the 1950s.
Ms Mompati was also one of the first recruits of the armed group, Umkhonto we Sizwe, which Mr Mandela formed in 1961 to fight the apartheid regime in South Africa.
