Governor Obaseki To Upgrade Okpeke Road Race

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has said that the state was beefing up plans to make the next edition of Okpeke 10km road race more outstanding with an organise festival at the end of the event.

According to a statement from the Office of the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Obaseki said the Governor made the announcement on Thursday in Benin when the board and management of Ecobank, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House.

Governor Obaseki said the Okpekpe Road Race has invited world-class runners from around the world to engender a tradition of intermixing local recreational and upcoming runners with the best in the world.

He said, “Okpekpe is a flagship race and we want to take it to the next level this year. We want you to step up your support as we intend to give the race more promotion and have a brand. We want to introduce more activities; people will run for more causes, like running for charity’”.

The participating countries include Kenya, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Uganda, Morocco, Israel, Bahrain, Morocco and Nigeria.
