Federal Government Identifies 2778 Nigerian Migrants Trapped In Libya

No less than 2,778 Nigerians trapped in the Libyan detention camps that embassy officials had been visiting have been identified by the federal government, apart from the over 3,000 who have returned home from the Libya.

According to a statement from the Foreign Affairs ministry spokesman, Tiwatope Elias-Fatiile, said that 250 Nigerians would be repartriated yesterday, as part of the 250 that were being repartriated every week.

The Foreign Affairs ministry said those registered in these camps were issued with emergency travel certificates. While the government indicated that the repatriation exercise was a continuous exercise, it noted that it would continue to engage the legitimate government in Libya and other stakeholders in addressing the plight of Nigerian migrants in that country.
