Nkeiruka Onyejeocha Demands Equity For Speakership As She Joins Race

A member of the House of Representatives, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, representing ‎Isuikwato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency of Abia State, has joined the race for the seat of the Speaker, House of Representatives.

Honourable Nkeiruka who declared her intention to contest at a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja, appealed to the All Progressive Congress (APC), anointed candidate, Femi Gbajabiamila, who is the majority leader of the house to “make due sacrifice” and give up on his ambition to become speaker “for Nigeria to move forward.”

The lawmaker who has been in the House of Representatives for 11 years, and currently the House Committee Chairperson on Aviation, urged the party to have a rethink and zone the speakership to the south-east for equitable distribution of positions as well fulfill its promise that it would increase women participation in the governance of the country.
