A Magistrates’ court docket sitting in Osogbo, the Osun Condition funds, on Thursday, ordered for the remand of eight people for allegedly assaulting some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Get together, PDP, in the state.
The defendants are: Olaniyan Jelili, 53, Awotunde Nuremi, 35, Nurudeen Taoheed 30, Tiamiyu Olamide 33, Zacheus Awosogbon 41, Onikola Adekunle 46, Rasaki Lawal Bawoni, 44, and Adebisi Sarafa Aditu, 45.
The prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Olusegun knowledgeable the courtroom that the defendants committed the offence on February 10, 2020, at PDP Secretariat Osogbo.
According to him, the people did conspire among them selves and try to eliminate a single Diran Odeyemi by hitting him with sticks on his head which built him unconscious for hrs alongside Akin Adeyi, each who are chieftains of the opposition PDP.
He extra that the offence fully commited are opposite and punishable below section 516,320(1) ,355,351,249(d) law of Osun state 2002
The defendants, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty to five-rely cost leveled towards them by the police.
The two defence counsels, Sina Adeniran and Nurudeen Kareem urged the courtroom to grant their shoppers bail in the most liberal conditions, as they promised that none of the defendants would leap bail, incorporating that they would also offer reputable sureties to stand for them.
But the prosecutor opposed the bail software, informing the courtroom that the offence committed remained heinous and that if they were being granted bail, there was large likelihood of leaping bail as very well as influencing witnesses in the make any difference.
In his ruling, the Magistrate , O.A Ayilara purchased the remand of the defendants at Ilesa Correctional centre.
He thus adjourned the issue till March 6, 2020 for ruling on bail.
